Kubuntu 20.04 Elisa Music Player Annoying Focus Stealing Problem

As a long time KDE fan and Kubuntu user I was waiting for a free time to do a fresh install of Kubuntu 20.04. I was kind of busy with projects and I couldn't afford risking my development environment to become unusable. So I just installed it and yes so far so good. I am generally satisfied with the desktop environment. It is more slick and polished compared to Kubuntu 18.04 which I was using before this one.

Previous version of Kubuntu forced me to tweak with nomodeset parameters during installation because my Nvidia card was not recognized by nouveau open source drivers were problematic. This time installation was smooth. I didn't have to tweak anything thanks to newer kernel and the option to install proprietary display drivers during the installation.

So I am satisfied with the desktop environment but the new Elisa music player shocking to see. Old Cantata was already a good Music player but this new player is not feature rich compared to Cantata. Yes it looks more modern but it is annoying and the most annoying part for me was it uses VLC in the background to play supported music formats but it opens a new VLC window each time it changes tracks and if I am writing something at that moment my windows looses focus because of a music player.

A long time KDE user I quickly changed the VLC windows settings to make it open minimized and not to steal focus. Yes it is still annoying to see VLC windows coming from nowhere but at least it does not block my writing.

So you simply click on the icon on the top left corner of the windows and select configure special window settings as seen below

First we make the window open as minimized

and then tell it not to grab focus

I hope this problem is fixed in newer versions of Elisa soon.
